D R Horton Profits over Customer Health
Your home may be next to carcinogens and EMF
Las Vegas, NV
The overhead wires in the pictures below are called distribution lines.  They supply power to entire population centers and are rated at very high voltage and amperage.  The audible noise that they emit in dry weather is that of a swarm of nearby mosquitos or a large bee hive at about twenty feet.  A gauss meter measurement taken in a kitchen within one of these homes at this distance of only 100 feet would likely be pegged.  Also note D R Horton's innocuous disclosure in the CC&R's that those distribution lines "generate certain electric and magnetic fields around them...."  D R Horton glosses over the presence of EMF but doesn't mention that prolonged exposure at this distance has been linked to brain tumors and leukemia.  In criminal law this could be considered non disclosure and wanton and reckless disregard of safety and life.

In late July 2008, I spoke with the D R Horton attorney responsible for the EMF ‘notice’ buried in a half paragraph of the Log Cabin CC&R’s. He reassured me that he had met with ‘experts’ that who told him that the ‘notice’ was just legally sufficient disclosure for sales. The links within this site disclose additional facts, and are much more unbiased since there are no sales incentives attached to this free information. Volumes of additional information are available from dozens of third party web sources, so don’t confine your search to this or within linked sites.

Note that other builders’ adjoining communities along Mocassin Road have distribution line set backs far greater than D R Horton‘s. Also note that D R Horton’s CC&R’s claim that only from ‘time to time’ that the EMF may be generated. Ask yourselves whether in the 110 degree desert heat, if the multi unit air conditioners found in every home are only functioning from ‘time to time.’ Also ask whether the thousands of spa heaters, pool pumps, industrial and commercial air conditioners, and other residential, industrial and commercial sources draw current only from ‘time to time.’

I wonder if Donald Horton would want his own grandchildren living in these homes for a decade and growing up under these conditions.

The above photos are of the D R Horton Log Cabin Development.  European studies recommend a 500 meter separation between residential housing and transmission lines.   To see an overhead satelite plan of the proximity of this development to the high tension wires:

copy and paste:     '8308 Mooses Court, Las Vegas, Nevada'     in the Google Earth hyperlink provided below at the bottom of the page

.....then zoom into to the development and satelite picture.  Be sure to click on the 'satelite' feature to get the satelite overview of the homes and their single house width proximity to the distribution lines.  Once there zoom in to the power lines........you can count them and almost hear them buzzing.
[By the way, HUD will not issue FHA insured mortgages for houses near transmission lines........what does that tell you?  Knowing of how Horton does business though, I bet that these 100 homes have illegal FHA insured loans securing the properties.  See more at http://www.powerlinefacts.com/FHA%20Rules.htm]
